🏎️ Optimize Windows Performance
🎯 Learning Objective
- Learn independently
- Understand the impact of hardware on Windows performance
- Know how to use Windows tools to optimize performance
📜 Statement
Part 1: 90 minutes
As a team, you must create a document explaining how to optimize Windows performance. You must at least cover the following topics:
- What is the impact of hardware on Windows performance? Specifically, the impact of the processor, RAM, graphics card, and hard drive. Provide examples of scenarios where hardware can be a bottleneck.
- How to observe Windows performance? What is the Task Manager? What information does it provide? How to use it to identify resource-intensive processes?
- What is the Resource Monitor (resmon)? How to use it to observe system resource usage? What information does it provide?
- How to terminate an unresponsive application (process)?
- If Windows is slow to start, what are the Windows tools to optimize startup? How to know if a program significantly impacts startup? How to disable programs that launch at startup?
- What is Disk Cleanup? How to use it to free up disk space? What options are available?
- What is disk defragmentation? Is it still necessary to manually defragment a hard drive, especially SSDs? What is the Windows utility to check the status of drives?
- What visual effects settings can be changed to improve Windows performance? How to access these settings?
- What is System Restore? How to use it to restore Windows to a previous state?
Start with individual research on the topic for 45 minutes. Then, pool your knowledge to create an explanatory document.

Submit the document on Omnivox before the end of the session.
Part 2: 30 minutes
We will have a class feedback session on the work done by each team. This time, to ensure each team can participate, each team will present only a part of the work.
