Software Installation
Duration: 90 minutes
Team: Groups of 3 or 4 students
🎯 Learning Objective
The objective of this exercise is to familiarize yourself with software installation on Windows 11.
📜 Statement
You need to install the relevant software for web development on Windows 11. Windows 11 is already installed on these machines and the settings are well configured. You now only need to install the software. You will write a short guide for installing this software.
Here are the steps to follow:
-
Create a shared Word document with your teammates.
-
Appoint a timekeeper and estimate the time needed to complete the following points. The timekeeper must ensure that the team adheres to the allotted time.
-
In the first section, make a list of the software you need to install for web development. For example, do you need a text editor? Is Node.js already installed?
In this part, everyone must make their own list. Then you will share your lists and choose the software you will install.
-
In the second section, write a short guide to explain how to install this software. This guide is intended for another developer, so it does not need to be too detailed. However, you should be more explicit than just providing a link.
-
Finally, add a section that summarizes the different ways to install software on Windows. For example, you can install software via the Microsoft Store, via an executable, or via a package manager like Chocolatey or Scoop. You can base your explanations on the software you have installed to illustrate your points.
Indicate where the files for this software are located on the disk. Indicate how to uninstall software. Also mention the differences between installing for the current user or for all users.
