MODULE 3 - Pods and Deployments

Overview

This module teaches you how to deploy and manage applications in Kubernetes. You will learn about Pods (the smallest deployable unit), ReplicaSets for replication, and Deployments to manage the complete lifecycle of your applications.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Understand Pods and their lifecycle
  • Create and manage Pods with YAML
  • Use Labels and Selectors
  • Deploy applications with ReplicaSets
  • Manage deployments with Deployments
  • Configure deployment strategies
  • Implement Health Checks

Key Concepts

Pods

Pods are the smallest deployable unit in Kubernetes. A Pod can contain one or more containers that share resources.

ReplicaSets

ReplicaSets maintain a stable set of running Pod replicas.

Deployments

Deployments manage ReplicaSets and provide declarative updates, rollback, and scaling features.
